Highly Overrated But Still Good

Absolutely the worst movie.

Clever, believable, and super fun to watch. It totally has replay value.

The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

Dark Tide, a steamy erotic thriller that loses its steam about ten minutes in should appeal to fans of the stars, but few others. Tide has gained a slight cult following due to its obscurity on video and lack of a DVD release, but other than a few oddly satisfactory (and violent) action sequences and the famous underwater cavern love scene, the bland storyline and grating narrative warrant this film perfect for DVD where the luxury of chapter selection would be invaluable.Andi (Brigitte Bako) joins her husband Tim (Chris Sarandon) on a tropical island to help him with the dangerous task of capturing poisonous sea snakes for their venom. Andi's flagrant sensuality attracts the attention of hired hand Dak (Richard Tyson) and when Tim becomes bitterly obsessed with his faltering job, the muscled brute uses the opportunity to seduce the confused girl. When she realizes her mistake and refuses to give in to any more of Dak's advances, he becomes jealously violent and sabotages Tim's boat sending the diver to the hospital. With Tim out of the way, no one can protect Andi from Dak's barbaric lust…except Andi herself.Dark Tide borders on exploitation but attempts to mask its intent with a thin shell of action-thriller seriousness. Plenty of nudity and fake sea snakes abound, but seldom does any emotion other than lust seep into this watery revenge drama. Though the final sequences do build a fair amount of suspense, they seem oddly out of place coupled with the earlier mediocrity. The acting in Dark Tide suits its purpose (though Bako is clearly the only one with any abilities in that department) but stilted dialogue and a lackluster script detract from what could have been a worthwhile revenge picture. And while Bako is easy on the eyes, her narration at the beginning and end of the film are certainly not easy on the ears. If curiosity or the pairing of Bako and Tyson entices you enough to give this thriller your time, try for the Unrated Version with extended sequences not shown in theaters.Joel Massie, www.moviepulse.net

Richard tyson the hot hung stud from the film Two Moon Junction is once again the magnificent stud-seducer as he takes Brigette Bako's charachter and has her held in his sway enough for her to cheat on her husband played by Chris Sarandon whose career must be going downhill for himto play in this stinker of a movie. Richard Tyson is someone who is a good actor but i guess will never be a household name kinda actor nor will actress Brigette Bako either. Both do as well as they can in this very plotless film as the rape scenes are done quite disgustingly and the only time you're satisfied with this film is when the poisionous eels are killing people at the end! * out of *****. Watch only if you're fan of Tyson (which I AM!!!) or of Bako's and you want to see them nude alot.

Richard Tyson gives a tour-de-force performance in this movie and has played the role of his career in Dark Tide. Dak is so sexy, so strong, I wish he could sweep me off my feet. His wild hunger is so animalistic in this movie that I'm speechless.
Lazarus-4
A woman's affair with a fisherman turns deadly when he obsesses with her. After her husband is intentionally poisoned by a snake and then raped by her "lover", she fights back to reclaim her life. Plenty of nudity and violence, but not much plot.
