The impact that this story has beyond the top. This movie can really brighten your day and enable one to cherish his/her life more, as the movie absolutely paints a picture about how depressing and gloomy it is to loose a life or two. After watching this, one will be able to enjoy every single time of their lives as life is precious and could be taken away any second, even during a mission to avenge a person.

Amy Adler Robby (Billy Unger) and his mother lost their beloved father-husband nearly a year ago. He was a police officer and he died pursuing some thieves. Robby remains sad so his mother decides to take him to visit his dad's partner, a police dog, who is staying at a kennel, unable to resume his duties, out of grief as well. Although unusual, Robby is allowed to adopt Cop Dog Marlowe and take him home, as the officers believe he is permanently skittish. This does brighten both Robby's and Cop Dog's life. However, Cop Dog behaves strangely whenever the two of them go near a woods, where Robby's Dad perished. Could there be clues to the killers at that location? Before they can discover this, nevertheless, Cop Dog perishes in an auto accident. More sad, sad news it is. Yet, when Robby blows his father's dog whistle, Cop Dog is back, as a ghostly helper to keep hope that the killers will be brought to justice. Will they? This is not exactly a cop-out of a movie but its not great. The script is uneven, despite some good elements, and the action unfolds very slowly. There are no major stars but the actors do an okay job, especially the bumbling "killers" who resemble the Home Alone guys in brain activity. All in all, if your family likes dog movies and wants a suitable flick for everyone, this is an acceptable choice. But, no one will probably stand up and cheer at the end.

ironhorse_iv Cop Dogs aren't supposed to tear up the couch and eat up the shoes of the owners, but the cop dog in this film does. Well trained police don't do that. K9 Dogs are specifically trained to do things like public order enforcement, illicit substance detection, tracking, and cadaver searching. The cop dog in this film doesn't do any of this. Literally, for most of the film, he does pretty nothing, but sleep, and stare. It's not even the same breed of a police dog. It's a beautiful dog, and Kuma that plays the Cop Dog is very friendly, but gees… it doesn't look like a K9 dog, at all. Most Cop Dogs that people think of, are pretty aggression to the point that they need to be muzzled. Most Cop Dogs are Bloodhound, Belgian Malinois, Doberman pinscher, Dutch Shepherds. I saw Beagle, Basset Hound, Cocker Spaniels, Foxhond, Golden Retriever, Labrador Retriever, Sulimov Dog, Schnauzer, Weimaraner. These breed are often use due to their availabilities. The only thing the Cop Dog does in this film is get itself: killed. This movie title is so misleading. For the most part, this movie should had been title: Ghost Dog. Even the movie's DVD cover is wrong. The movie doesn't had no anthropomorphic dog in it. I heard the movie was supposed to be call Marlowe. In my opinion, that would make sense if only the plot revolved around it. The dog is barely in this film. Did I mention this movie is a children's film? It's hard to tell, because most of the film deals with death. Lot of nightmare for small children, right there. Surprising, this is a winning formula for kid's pet movies as the protagonist in these movies seems to live very depressing life due to family member or pet dying. It's a very old overused cliché. While a lot of children's pet movies follows the same formula, this movie takes it to the extreme. The opening to this film has a boy, Robby (Billy Unger) in the graveyard, trying to get over his police dad's murder, despite for some odd reason, Robby likes being there. He always asks to go see his dad's gravestone everyday but he doesn't even get out of the car. Does he or doesn't he want to move on, or not?! He does kinda move on, by taking care of his father's ex duty dog, lonely Marlowe. Instantly, the two are best friends like trouble souls. When Marlowe sees the same two criminals that kill Robby's father, Marlowe immediately chases them down only to get run over by a car. The death of Marlowe is no Old Yeller, still the child actors were pretty OK in conveying emotions. Ghost Dog appears, and Robby finds out that the reason why is because it had to do with his father's death. Most of the film now is Robby and his token love interest/best friend, Deb (Cassi Thomson) trying to catch the robbers/murderers in the act. Deb is pretty much just a manic pixie dream girl that only purpose in the film is to feed the depressed Robby to embrace life. She has no life of her own besides helping him solve his father's murder. One dimensional character. In real world, no girl would be hanging out with a depress kid like that. They also find out that they have to solve the murder before the anniversary of the father's death, or else Marlowe's ghost disappear forever. The movie could had work if it was had a good mystery to it. Even the movie gives up the suspense, as the murderer of the dog and the father is pretty much told in the beginning of the film. All, we're doing is waiting for the two children to figure them out. The way, the children is trying to find them is stupid and outlandish. The whole gum CSI catching scenes are just too complex for a film only 90 minutes long. Directed by John Murlowski, this movie doesn't stand out much for family entertainment as it's more depressing than good family fun. Even with ghosts, the movie is pretty so-so. Its low budget film really shows. Overall: There are better children dog movies out there than this. If you happen to watch it, at least, look at the subject matter before putting it on for your children to watch.

chugworth-1 This is one of the best movies I've ever seen! Billy Unger is completely convincing as 8 year old Timmy with a recently deceased father. Jonny or whatever he's called has to team up with his older girlfriend and his dad's old police dog to uncover the mystery of his dad's death.The film starts off as any other kids film would: with a trip to the graveyard! Billy then asks to go see his dad's gravestone everyday, but he doesn't even get out, he just sits in the car. At the risk of letting little Danny dwell on his father's death, his mother takes him to see his old police dog for no reason, and they decides to adopt marlowe. And then Marlowe gets hit by a car 20 minutes into the movie. This makes the film's name "cop dog" is a bit misleading but the dog does turn up for the rest of the film as a ghost and does nothing.Jimmy's uncle just so happens to be an 'expert' in the paranormal so he comes along to explain that they have to solve the murder before the anniversary of the fathers death, or else marlowe's ghost will be gone forever. Even though Freddy's girlfriend isn't even old enough to be sexually attracted to him, she decides to help him anyways! The film is also following the 2 robbers that killed the dad (so there's no mystery really) and they have hidden their loot in a really obvious trap in the woods, and one of them keeps leaving chewing gum on a tree nearby. Terry and his girlfriend discover this, so they devise this convoluted plan to gather up the gum, buy loads of gum from a nearby store, get the receip....ah whatever I can't even explain it. This probably was the weakest scene in the movie. Not saying it was bad, it just wasn't as compelling as the other more gripping scenes.Anyway at the end of the movie Marlowe has a puppy, and thats why I like it. I would have given it like 4/10, but most IMDb users give a film 10 just to boost the rating of a film they like, or an insanely low score if they just disliked a movie. Thats why indiana jones and the crystal skull has 6.5/10! No films get below 3/10, its sickening.
