ChromeSkull: Laid to Rest 2 Audience Reviews

Huievest Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.
TrueHello Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Kaelan Mccaffrey Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
Geraldine The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
tdrish I will watch slasher movies, however, I do not really take a particular interest in them. They always seem to be the same: High body counts, lots of blood spilled, and no explanation as to why the killer is so pyst off. If you are diving into this without watching the 2009 film, I can save you some time. There is a brutal killer, and many savage slayings. Okay, so you are all up to date...now we move on to Laid To Rest 2. After being nearly destroyed at the end of the original, we find our killer revived by a team of specialists who graphically sew and put him back together. All of these scenes are incredibly graphic, and insanely gruesome to watch. If you can't handle this, then I suggest something else for you to view, because this movie makes the previous movie look like G rated material. You are so welcome for the warning. The warning should not be taken lightly, as this whack job just seems angrier then ever...which is never explained. It's also never explained why this unknown team revives him from the dead, I mean, are they perfectly happy with the thought that he is savagely tearing innocent people apart limb by limb? Is this some sort of unknown company trying to keep the general population under control?? That's never explained. Sweet and to the point, nothing is explained. I would personally like an explanation on why we need a 15 second scene of a camera panning down a females chest while she's taking a shower, is that really necessary? Is this sequel even necessary? I think not, and I regret to tell you, there is a Laid To Rest 3 in the making at the time of this review, so big spoiler here: If you are expecting the killer to be thrown into a wood chipper at the end where he belongs, you are going to be let down. I really can't see why any one will want to watch this, however, if you are a gore hound, you will have the time of your life with this one. The unrated release of this film easily boosts it way beyond the realms of the NC17 rating. Heads and bodies are disturbingly torn, slashed, and impaled in insanely vivid detail. My problem with the movie, aside from the fact that nothing is explained, is the fact that ( and some may disagree) it is possible to make a movie that is way too violent. I could get on one bent knee, and beg you to please not watch this movie, but it will be clearly up to you weather you want to do so or not. I think it is a needless sequel, and I cannot stress this enough. There's really nothing left to review on this one, I mean, the gore is off the charts, the body count is too high to count, and there is little to no story to tell. If you are looking for a great slasher movie, you may want to check out Severance...and under no circumstances will I EVER give a slasher film more then 7 stars, and I will have you to know Severance earned a 7 star rating from me. It's well written, has a story, good gore, and even some quotable lines...and one very funny scene that makes me giggle just thinking of it. As far as Chromeskull...hey, it's not Friday the 13th, this guy is worse then Jason. Hopefully they keep this excuse for a movie a trilogy, and doesn't spawn more parts then an automobile like Friday the 13th did.
Ethan Bourke On the cover of the DVD, where they usually stamp quotes and praise from various critics this one simply said "Some great kills", or something along those lines. Now when the best quote they could get for the movie is that, you're probably not going in expecting a masterpiece. Before I start taking a metaphorical dump on this movie, it should be acknowledged that it DOES have some creative kills, and the effects on that front are obviously where the bulk of the budget went - and lets face it - that's probably why you're watching it. Without spoiling anything, Chromeskull is probably in contention with American History X for best curb stomp. The writing is just shitty, no point being delicate on that one. It's obviously low budget (nothing wrong with that) except that a lot of the shots look like they were filmed on $400 handy cam.The flow of the story is in some ways similar to Final Destination, in that it introduces an uncompelling character, with one sentence worth of development, then desperately attempts to build tension by having Chromeskull hunt and kill them in elaborate ways. The characters are mostly bland and one-dimensional. You want to sympathize with JESS, who is going blind, but the character devolves into a hysterical sack of tears and screaming, but is amazingly less useless than her able-bodied male counterpart, Tommy. The ONE relationship which is actually compelling is CHROMESKULL and PRESTON'S. But the director doesn't seem to recognise this and forfeits any hope of adding another layer to the movie. Performance-wise the film is a mixed (colostomy) bag. Owain Yeoman as King (a detective) does a decent job with very little, as does Brian Austin Green as Preston (Chromeskulls right hand man).In summary, this is not by any means, a decent movie, but if your having a movie night with some friends, and cheap thrills and gory kills are your thing, this movie might appeal to you. But there is basically nothing new or original about this.
Joe Miller I recently saw the first Laid To Rest film and loved it a lot and was thrilled about finding the second one and not only was it still the work of Robert Hall it had Danielle Harris (Hatchet 2).I just finished and I am still loving the series of Chromeskull! The story still played well and the actors did a great job. This is now a contender of not only my favorite horror series but my favorite Kill Icon!I cannot wait until Laid To Rest 3!Must watch these in order though.~Joe
trashgang The specialized magazines loved this flick. I must say that I wasn't a fan of the first one. I liked the gore but it lacked on a story. This one was directed by the same director as part 1 (Robert Hall) and I must say, it was shot in the same way, a lot of gore but again it was written by the director himself and yes, a lack of story...The flick starts were the other one ended at the grocery store. The heroin from part 1 (the wife of Robert Hall, Bobbi Sue Luther) has survived the atrocity at the store and she finally can go away from it all, wrong, after a shower someone is visiting her motel. From there on you can pick up the flick easily because before the shower scene she do has a flashback about what happened at the store. The names from part 1 are back here in this part and some new names like Danielle Harris. She's only in it for a few minutes so don't expect to see her act like in Blood Night: The Legend Of Bloody Mary. Her name is in fact just a teaser. The acting is believable so on that part no complaints. But as I said, the story is weak. Here we do have a fake Chromeskull and of course the real one. The fake one do plays the main part in the first part of Laid To Rest 2. The second part it's gore galore with the real Chromeskull. But it just doesn't fit the way the story is told. Why those two girls are chosen by Chromeskull isn't explained of example. And the coppers doesn't add anything special too.But of course this feature is known for it's gore and that is done in a excellent way. The red stuff do flows a lot and the killings are done in a exaggerated style. The knifes are again impressive. Overall, this movie is really one for the gorehounds and the lovers of torture porn. The Laid To Rest flicks aren't my cup of tea storywise but i do love the gore in it and the way the killings are done.Gore 4/5 Nudity 2/5 Story 2/5 Effects 4/5 Comedy 0/5
