Plantiana Yawn. Poorly Filmed Snooze Fest.

TrueHello Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

Candida It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.

adonis98-743-186503 A young man receives an emergency phone call on his cell phone from an older woman. The catch? The woman claims to have been kidnapped; and the kidnappers have targeted her husband and child next. Cellular has some great full of suspense action sequences and lots of chases on foot or with cars. The perfomances from Chris Evans, Kim Basinger and Jason Statham are top notch and the interactions on the phone between the 2 leads were powerful enough for me to care about them and their survival as characters overall also there's some great humor and i loved the end credits style too, fans of the Cast and people who like action thrillers won't be disappointed. (10/10)

jimbo-53-186511 Cellular is one of those films that is incredibly entertaining and fun to watch, but it's also sloppy in too many areas for it to be really categorized as a great film. Let's look at some examples; Jessica Martin (Kim Basinger) is kidnapped and manages to make an outbound phone call from a damaged telephone by literally crossing wires together. I'm not an expert on these things so maybe it's possible that this can be done, but did anyone else find it hard to believe that Basinger's character would have the skill or know-how to be able to do this? I mean yes if she was a telecoms engineer or if she was in a profession that would give her the requisite skills to do this it might make this aspect of the plot believable, but she's a teacher so it makes no sense that she would have the skill or know-how to do this??? To me this aspect of the story was just thrown in with complete disregard for logic. Also the kidnappers carry out a fairly well-executed kidnapping of Jessica, but then fail to restrain her which lead to her being able to escape????I also struggled understanding why her husband just left the recording of the police corruption in a safety deposit box? Yes I realise he wouldn't be able to take it to the police, but why not take it higher? Refer it to the FBI for example. It just didn't make any sense to me. It seemed to be a case of characters making stupid decisions in order to make the story more exciting.If we look at the acting then Evans is very much the 'glue' that holds this entertaining mess together. His performance here was excellent and despite the fact that he's a bit smug and arrogant at the start the fact that he goes the 'extra mile' to help Jessica means that he is at least a character that we can root for. His character does get into some very funny scenarios as well (the scene where he steals the lawyer's car twice was a stroke of genius). Basinger is quite good and Statham is his usual self - which to me isn't a bad thing.I quite enjoyed this film, but some of the far-fetched plot elements and the numerous improbable scenarios do hold it back slightly. Despite some of its shortcomings I did find it entertaining and fun to watch. It's a film that you'll find that you'll hate the more you think about it so it's best just to switch off your brain and enjoy the ride.

jb_campo Somewhat disappointing thriller. Let's start with acting.Chris Evans was OK as this kid who gets a cell phone call and decides he's finally going to think about somebody other than himself. He does OK, nothing great.Kim Basinger did her best to carry her part, but really, all she was asked to do was cringe and cower and cry and get beaten up. Really not much depth in her character.Jason Statham plays a snarly bad guy who likes smashing things and people, and talking cute before he bashes you in the mouth. SOP for him, so nothing special.William Macy saves what little day there was in this movie by his excellent job as a long-in-the-tooth cop who is on his last roundup and wants to go quietly into the Spa business until this case pulls him in. Kind of like that moving Michael Douglass, against the cop Robert Duvall in Falling Down. Anyhow, love Macy.The plot is somewhat OK - you keep wondering why are these guys doing this. They you find out. Then all sorts of chase scenes happen and the movie ends. OK, not much there. A lot of chase scenes and talking on the cell phone. made in Hollywood, by Hollywood.so so, IMHO. I like Evans much more as Captain America later on in his movie career. Enjoy.
