Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!

A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.

It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.

There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.

Ok, my review title may be slightly tongue in cheek but you can see, after watching this movie, it would be a good way of pitching it to potential investors and distributors. In reality, it's nowhere near those classic films in terms of quality but it's a good watch nonetheless and could appeal to devotees of drama, crime or even horror. I wasn't expecting much but watched it purely because Malkovich's name was attached and at an hour and a half it wouldn't take up too much time. Looking at the synopsis: criminals in a warehouse after a failed heist, I thought, Tarantino rip off and indeed continued to think this after I started watching, particularly when they started exchanging conversations about supposed trivialities. But these trivial conversations all added up to a coherent whole and were well executed with flashbacks to the younger selves of the characters observed by their older selves. It has some great moments of suspense and with pretty much one setting and only four major characters, feels like a play, in a good way. I watched this for Malkovich, and he was class, as always but Brody does well as the nominal lead and Banderas adds presence and menace in a supporting but pivotal role. Rory Culkin would appear to be out of place here but also provides good support as a young junkie. If you're not expecting a masterpiece, this is an engaging film with an obviously heartfelt message from it's director.

Not your average thriller or crime movie. In fact, the film has the feel of a stage play about it. Perhaps because much of it is set inside a warehouse. In other words, the film is a decent drama. The unorthodox plot develops well and the cast does a good job with mediocre, stereotypical dialogue. The script weaves in some real moments of suspense almost making the film seem like a horror flick! The movie has more than its suspense moments. It has a solid story which may appeal to the 'critic' minded film-goer. It's a plot which can be interpreted at various levels (like a play!) . Despite its occasional predictability the movie makes it easy to while away 1.5 hours. After all, not all movies can be rated 8 or above?

Kept me on the edge of my seat. Great characters, story and direction.

I am writing a review of this film again as my old review got deleted somehow n so this time i will make it a short review.
Saw this on a dvd. The trailer, the star cast n the plot were superb but most people will b disappointed cos its not an action oriented or fast paced creature flick. But i enjoyed it. There is too much talking between characters n if u pay attention each character has a story n each involves an animal that had an impact on their lives.
There r small scenes of solid tension/suspense n dog chase scenes. It is a small scale survival thriller with more emphasis on characters.
Most of the dogs aggressive nature is told off screen n there aint enuff body count.
The directors earlier effort Grace was a bit slow too. Has shades of Cujo n Reservoir dogs.
