TxMike By my count the original 2000 "Bring It On" has spawned 4 additional movies, and at least this one seems to be a direct-to-video. The phrase "Bring It On" is used a number of times as a sort of challenge, if you have the stuff then 'bring it on.' It is a silly fluff of a movie, and most of the girls seem unusually rude and confrontational, which may make for a lot of action but frankly doesn't do justice to the fine boys and girls in most of our schools.Hayden Panettiere is the star as Britney Allen, the head cheerleader for the best cheering squad in Southern California. She is brash and demanding. But one day when she gets home her parents tell her dad has lost his job and will need to take a new one a distance away in a less luxurious part of California. This makes for some of the more inventive humor in the movie."But dad, won't that be a very long commute to work?" Dad tells her they are moving there. "Oh, I'll miss you guys so much." Then dad tells her "We are all moving there." Britney doesn't take it very well. When she gets to her new school, with a high percentage of black and Hispanic students she immediately doesn't fit in. Solange Knowles (Beyonce's little sister) is Camille , the head cheerleader at the new school. There is immediate friction. And that is really what the whole movie is about. The friction between the cheer squad, and the old school, and a competition to see which will get a coveted gig. I like Panettiere and she is really good here, doing as much with the script as she can. But it is just another teen angst diversion.
Syl I knew Hayden who played Brittany when she was on Guiding Light where she played Lizzie Spaulding. She's grown up and moved on but she'll always be Lizzie to me. In this performance, she takes a rich girl who is moved to the wrong side of the tracks known as Crenshaw Heights from Pacific Vista. She was head cheerleader and popular at her old school. In her new school, she's alone and ostracized for being the white girl. Anyway, she gets on the cheer-leading squad of her new school but tries to hide that information from her old friends. I have to say that Hayden and Marcy Rylan who played Winnie Harper in the film were worth watching. You see Marcy Rylan recently played Lizzie Spaulding on Guiding Light until it ended. Kind of ironic, anyway I felt the film was okay and had a story in it. My only problem is that there were no adults like parents or much about teachers in the film or a coach. Where is the adult supervision during activities?
callanvass Bring It On All Or Nothing is yet another DTV sequel, that is far from originality, but it actually manages to entertain fairly well, and that is quite a feat to pull off for being DTV. Unlike Bring It On Again, this one manages to put in effort to try and be an entertaining film,it gives us likable leads,a better storyline and most importantly develops the characters much better. Granted a lot of the stuff is very cliché|Like Camile picking of Britney as soon as she arrives at the school cause she's white| or the utter predictability of them developing a friendship, but it's all done with likability and professionalism. The characters this time around are quite likable as well. Hayden Panettiere has a lot of spunk, and quite an amount of charisma to carry a film, which is why she made Beth Cooper a modest success. The cheer leading sequences themselves are quite inventive and creative. I thought they did some great stuff near the end, where they managed to create a lot of excitement. I'm not saying this film is great,it's far from being great,it's clichéd,cheesy and gave me everything I expected, but it entertained me a lot more then I thought it would, and since it's DTV,I can't ask for much more then that.Performances. Hayden Panettiere is a Cutie no doubt about it,but she also proved she can carry a film. She reminded me of a young Reese Witherspoon. Good looking, charming, likable with that same mouthy sass that Reese has,and while I'm not saying she's in Reese's league, she has that kind of potential. Solange Knowles is alright here. Her Wigger talk got on my nerves after a while but she did OK for a singer. Gus Carr is the standard love interest, failing to inject any personality into Jessee, his chemistry with Hayden felt forced. Marcy Rylan played the B*tch to perfection,I couldn't stand her. Rhianna does OK in her cameo, she's certainly decent to look at. Rest of the cast do alright.Bottom Line. Bring It On 3 won't make you wanna go out and see it again any time soon, but for a DTV sequel it was actually fairly decent. It passed the time adequately and managed to give me some fair entertainment in the process. Worth a look on a rainy day,or if it's slow moving.5 1/2 /10
Amanda Smith I have to say this movie was better then the second one, the second one was terrible, and it was just awful. This movie is entertaining and fun to watch, but there are some scenes and actors that are not that good. Some of the actors, well i don't even know how they even got the job, they were just bad, and not convincing. But I did like some of the scenes, like when they were cheering at the end, and I loved the beginning, and the plot was very good too. This movie was pretty entertaining, and if you buy it on DVD, you will a bit sorry, but only a little, but rent it, it's worth a watch or two. Overall this is an OK movie.
