The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.

If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.

Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.

Before anything, let me just say I love Boyka. His character has been through so much stuff and you can see his development from the previous movies. I also love Scott Adkins! You can feel the energy he puts in the performance and into becoming Boyka. And not just Adkins, but the whole cast is great. Also, the fighting scenes (as you'd have guessed) are amazingly done and there are TONS of them. They are similar to the previous installments - maybe with less variety- but there is little to complain about them. Now, for the bad part. First of all, it's kinda funny Boyka spends the whole movie searching for "redemption" but it's actually Undisputed 3 that got the name. To think maybe they switched it? lol
Another thing questionable is.. isnt' he a fugitive from Russia? How would Boyka become a famous fighter in Ukraine? Wouldn't that be a bad thing or is there something I'm missing?
And the plot.. well.. it was just meh. Boyka becoming religious and looking for redemption was an interesting idea.. I also did like Alma character.. but I feel this russia mafia, the bad guy and the fights were just recycling ideas from previous movies. Nothing new is brought to the table. Even though the scenes and the fights are awesome.. I think they just switched locations, instead of prison we get a club.
Finally, where does the ending leave us? I mean, Boyka went full cycle, he changed from a bad guy to a good guy, than to prisoner to a runaway and now he is in prison again. If this was intended to be the final installment in the franchise, I think maybe it was a good idea. Like some sort of crazy morale where he can't escape his destiny or something. But I can't see anything foward after it, otherwise it's gonna be Undisputed 3 all over again.
So I hope they do a prequel, about Boyka, in the next one or just come up with something very original.. if there will be a next one!
Let's just hope!

Do not waste your time, unless you are seriously a hardcore fan of MMA type films. This film lacks quality in all categories only thing good is the fighter stunts performed but with bad cameraman-ship. I do not know how this movie is rated so high and only thing i can think of is that it is supported by MMA lovers who are not quality movie buffs. I am not either but this was tastelessWaste of time unless you have nothing else to do, I would still say do not watch it!!

This is the fourth in the Undisputed series, a series that unusually has been getting better with each film. I expect if you are watching this movie you are already a fan of Scott Adkins (a vastly under rated actor) and his character Yuri Boyka and know what to expect. This time though we see more of a story and a chance for Boyka to develop from just a fighting machine. That being said there are as always some fantastic fight scenes.Boyka: Undisputed is about the heart of a warrior and the heart of a man who will never be beaten.
