Great Film overall

Not sure how, but this is easily one of the best movies all summer. Multiple levels of funny, never takes itself seriously, super colorful, and creative.

Blistering performances.

Bobcat Goldthwait does a stand-up show like no other, and it is interesting to see him return to this form after an absence of... oh, maybe thirty years? He stresses that he is "not Gilbert Gottfried", "not dead" but just broke and needs the money for alimony. (How true that is I do not know, but I would not be the least surprised... "Police Academy" royalties have probably dried up.) But yeah, you will get jokes on fisting and the Special Olympics and even a special little jab at the Milwaukee Police Department. I enjoyed his performance and how timeless it was -- his only pop culture references were horribly out of date, which actually added charm.

Bobcat Goldthwait: You Don't Look the Same Either (2012) *** (out of 4)Very funny concert film was taped during Bobcat Goldthwait's stop in Glendale, California where he hits on a wide range of topics. These topics include Michael Jackson, the Arizona issue on immigrants, his setting The Tonight Show set on fire, working with Johnny Depp and being broke. Those who grew up watching Bobcat in the POLICE ACADEMY movies and haven't seen his stand-up act will probably be in for a surprise because there's really no subject off limit. He goes after the recently deceased Michael Jackson and not only makes fun of him but also his children. Sensitive material? Probably in lesser hands but Bobcat takes the material and really turns it into something incredibly funny and especially his reasons for why they had the daughter talking at the funeral. Another hilarious bit deals with a dream he had where he thought he was scratching a certain part of his body only to wake up and realize it was the cat doing something down below. Another great topic includes an entire skit dealing with how pretty he thought Depp was. He does a hilarious joke that I won't ruin but he asks if you had to pick Depp or another person and the way this is delivered is just priceless and it'll leave tears running down your face. Overall Bobcat has that wild energy that you've always loved and yes, there are several POLICE ACADEMY jokes for those who remember that zany character. At just 57 -minutes the material stays on target for the most part, although there are a couple dry spots. Still, with the majority of the jokes landing, if you're a fan of Bobcat then this here is certainly a must see.
