In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.

An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.

Vampire hunters in space! Doesn't that sound awesome? Sure it does but that doesn't mean that this is an awesome movie as well. This is a movie from the days that vampires were suddenly cool again and the movie borrows a lot from the style of the "Blade" movies, that were flashy, fast and action filled. This movie tries to be like that as well, as well as with its characters but it of course is lacking the right budget and talents involved for that, so the movie more often feels as a lame one.But really, as far as these low budget B-movie type of science-fiction flicks go, this one is not amongst the worst of them. It's still pretty good looking and the movie simply doesn't ever become a horrible one. Bad, yes! But definitely not horrible. Not that I'll ever watch this movie again but I at least didn't feel like I was completely wasting my time with it.I still did wish for the movie to do something more with its concept though. For a movie that is about vampire hunters in space, there is a disappointing amount of vampire hunting going on. So please, if you are expecting lots of awesome vampire action, then think again. But all of this could be blamed on its story. Or well, perhaps its storytelling, since the movie doesn't seem to be very interested in telling its story. Things just happen, without going anywhere with it. It feels really messy at times and I often kept wondering what it's main plot line was actually supposed to be all about.I also seriously thought that this movie was based on a TV-series of perhaps was part of a movie series, since this actual movie does very little about its character setup and building or providing any background information to its story. But as far as I can tell, this movie is based- or part of nothing, so it's a complete standalone movie, which makes it odd that it behaves itself as if everybody should be familiar with the characters already and the far off alien worlds it is taking placing at. It really does a lot of things wrong. It has Michael Ironside as, supposedly, the main villain but he gets introduced half way through the movie and actually is also very little in the movie at all. It's storytelling and character handling like this that still makes this a pretty bad movie to watch, most of the time. It's not the worst genre example but there still is no good reason why you should ever watch this.5/10 http://bobafett1138.blogspot.com/

I picked this movie up to replace the dismal choice of daytime television and to go with my thirst for femme fatales. Well, for the previous, it is better than daytime television....though I'm not sure how much.It does have its points but after about the first 20-30 minutes, the good points pan out and one comes to the conclusion that they are watching a made for TV movie that was put together with not much time to make something that will hold together. In short, a terrible Sci Fi channel type movie. It has its points such as the future is dirty, like "Blade Runner" showed ..... of course, this is no "Blade Runner". The Captain looks, sort of feels like actor Robert Forster, the kind of person one might want to be around. But unfortunately, it rather ends up feeling like a bad "Andromeda" rehash where the muscle of the crew consists of poor copies of the smart gunners of "Aliens", the mystic is vampire Willow sexually intensified, and the new Captain might as well be like Jan-Michael Vincent running around on "Danger Island" in the "Banana Splits"; he only put on the uniform with the epaulets; he's got very little right to it. All of them running around with their version of force lances inside a ship that looks very much like the 'Eureka Maru' as they are fighting a class of 'people' who occupy the universe and are broken up into several different tribes or sects of different evolutionary qualities.......just like the Nietzcheans in "Andromeda".It might have a redeeming feature with Michael Ironside, but after a while, one gets the feeling that he took the part as a hoot! He probably had fun doing it, but it doesn't help the movie much. It's ..... "okay". Okay in the way that one might watch the DVD once without turning it off; if they watch it with commercials, they will probably change the channel. One might watch it once .......... but a few hours later, be wondering what it was that made them watch it all.For me, that was the femme fatale ............. when she was fighting.

#1 Vampires vs. Humans#2 Military-reject roughneck squad as first responders to dangerous, unknown Vampire incursions.#3 Sexy female Vampire on the side of the "good guys".#4 Plenty of gore and action. There are four (4) major plot devices that may help you decide if you want to watch this movie. If you want all four, then the next plot device may not deter you...#5 In outer space. That last one almost got me too, but I'm glad I watched. In a pile of terrible direct-to-video horror that is the Sci-Fi channel Halloween marathon... this movie is a breath of fresh air. It will stand-up against any of the other Sci-Fi channel offerings, and even against the other Vampire movie Natassia starred in (who keeps giving Uwe Boll money?).

In 2210, mankind has explored the space and found a vampiric menace, declaring war against different breeds of vampires some of them inclusive human flesh cannibals. The V-SAN (aka Vampire Sanitation) spaceship leaded by Captain Churchill (Joe Lando) receives a distress call from an Earth base and his team formed by the vampire Quintana (Natassia Malthe), the rookie officer Damian (Dominic Zamprogna) and the rebels Rosa (Leanne Adachi) and Roman (Aaron Pearl) seek survivors and vampires and they rescue the scientist Fiona (A.J. Cook), but Capt. Churchill is captured by the vampires. After their next assignment, the provisional captain Damian and his group disclose that a traitor has disengaged the defense system of the bases and they chase their prime suspect.I like B-movies, but "Bloodsuckers" has very contradictory characters and situations. The story has some potential but the internal fights and argues and contradictions of the V-SAN team have irritated me. The so-called vampires are actually cannibals and have nothing to do with the traditional vampires that suck blood and fear garlic, crosses, holy water and sunlight. The worm vampire is hilarious and one of the funniest moments of this flick. Natassia Malthe recalls Catherine Zeta-Jones and is also extremely gorgeous. This movie seems to be a forgettable television pilot of a series. My vote is five.Title (Brazil): "A Guerra dos Vampiros" ("The War of the Vampires")
