It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

Ok... Let's be honest. It cannot be the best movie but is quite enjoyable. The movie has the potential to develop a great plot for future movies

It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

I hoped to one day get a really big forehead, but by acting in this movie directed by Sophia Cacciola and Michael Epstein, I was able to get the forehead that I need!

BLOOD OF THE TRIBADES is an American indie horror flick made as a tribute to the lesbian vampire flicks of old such as VAMPYRES and DAUGHTERS OF DARKNESS. As such, there's not much plot of sorts, but plenty of visual imagery in the tale of dangerous femme fatales seducing and vampirising unsuspecting men. At times the film recalls the glory days of Jean Rollin and his oeuvre, but as soon as any of the non-actors open their mouths it tends to fall apart due to the wooden line delivery. There's at least one bloody set-piece and lots of tasteful nudity involving voyeurism, bathing, and skinny dipping.

The movie begins decent enough with a summary of the backstory through an interesting monologue and moves directly into a scene full of nudity and some mild gore. Sounds like what an independent horror movie should be, right?Soon after, they try to develop the story and it gets muddled and lost and loses focus. The movie focuses too much on the poorly- written script and begins to lose anyone who watches for the action, gore, or odd nature of indie horror. The blu ray transfer looks nice, and the movie is well made, but the positive aspects end there. For much of the movie, we have to sit through long, drawn-out scenes of people walking slowly in cloaks from point A to B and delivering painful, biblical dialogue. I know they tried to mimic older Euro vampire films, but this does not have the gritty, evil feel those movies had. Overall, a very poor effort all around after a few promising scenes at the beginning. I had tot urn it off about an hour and I rarely ever have to do that.

The overall tone of the film is set within the first few minutes. What you see is what you get. It's a throwback film in many ways to the 70s Euro art-house lesbian vampire genre. The setting is colorful and captivating - and coupled with the terrific score, they work to really set the mood and atmosphere. It's obvious the cast and crew worked hard to create a fully-realized world that would resonate with fans of the genre. So, if you're a fan of indie films, vampires, lesbians, Hammer Films horror, 70s era films - or just looking for something competent, refreshing, and containing scenes of blood and sensual sexiness - go ahead and settle in, sit back, and give it a whirl.
