This is the story of 1970s African-American action legend Black Dynamite. The Man killed his brother, pumped heroin into local orphanages, and flooded the ghetto with adulterated malt liquor. Black Dynamite was the one hero willing to fight The Man all the way from the blood-soaked city streets to the hallowed halls of the Honky House.

Black Dynamite Audience Reviews

Linbeymusol Wonderful character development!
Console best movie i've ever seen.
ShangLuda Admirable film.
Voxitype Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
Alan Lamprecht The greatest parody movie ever made. The 2009 comedic Blaxploitation magnum opus; BLACK DYNAMITE. The film is technically a movie within a movie. You see errors made by the fictitious directors (when in actuality these mistakes were intentionally made by the real director). That's right, a film with the courage to intentionally make errors and goofs all the time. The quality of BLACK DYNAMITE is in its lovely portrayal of the 70's Blaxploitation movies. Where most parody films fail is where this one shines the most, in capturing the heart of the original source material. The creators of this comedy clearly care for the films they're honoring. Another way this film succeeds is in it's jokes. There are so many jokes. The whole picture is filled to the brim with the full array of every kind of joke. Dumb jokes, easy jokes, long jokes, jokes you don't get upon first viewing, the list goes on, and yet none of the jokes are milked. Aesthetically, the film is edited, directed, filmed, and set to music just like it's source. One might even mistake this for a film from the 70's, if you didn't know it was from 2009, especially since they over altered the print. There is SO MUCH going on in this movie, it's extremely unlikely that you won't enjoy at least some aspects of it. The plot is so dense that it's fun to think of the fictional writers come up with a plot like this, because it's so familiar and yet so out there. Another thing to look out for is that the character's names are so creatively funny, you could almost use them as movie titles themselves. No matter how many times you see the film, there's always something new to pick up on. Upon a second viewing, you might realize that whatever Dynamite does, the music does too, which is great since the music is hilarious anyway. 'Sunny Side Up' is my favorite from the soundtrack. I was in tears of laughter for half of the film, and giggling away for the rest of it. I love this movie, it's already one of my favorites, in the same way that I love 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show'. This is a film that they set out to make in one way and they made it in exactly that way. It's a film with no mistakes whatsoever (not counting the deliberate ones). To me, this film is a 10/10, if it weren't for my instincts telling me "But is it art". In a way, yes. But to be safe, I'll keep it at an incredible 9/10. This is one of my favorite films of all time, and if you haven't seen it yet, get on it right away. If it isn't at your video store, order it online. If you can't order it, then start the torrents. Do whatever it takes. What. Ever. It. Takes.Stellar: 9/10
The-Plague 'Black Dynamite' is a satire combining elements of martial arts films along with movies featuring a strong black lead character such as 'Shaft.' The story follows Black Dynamite (Michael Jai White) as he searches for the man who murdered his brother, pursues a love interest, and discovers a government plot to bring down the black man. While this is not the first movie of its kind, following 'Undercover Brother' and "I'm Gonna Get You Sucka,' I think it is however superior. This movie, which is crammed with hilarious catch phrases and one liners is also filled with realistic stunt work. Professional writer/actor Michael Jai White just so happens to be proficient in ten different styles of martial arts, so when the director wanted a fight scene to look realistic White had no problem making it happen. White himself puts forth a notable performance combining just the right amount of cheesy lingo and badassery. Prior to this movie he starred in 'Spawn' and a few low budget action films, but I think that 'Black Dynamite' is what ultimately solidified his status as a respected actor/writer even with the movie's lack of financial success.Despite his numerous contributions to the movie, Michael Jai White does not completely steal the show. 'Black Dynamite' is full of well known actors including Tommy Davidson, Aresnio Hall, Nicole Sullavin, and Mykelti Williamson who played Bubba Blue in 'Forest Gump.' The supporting characters, dawning names like Creamed Corn, Chicago Wind, Bullhorn, and Tasty Freeze all have their own personalities and quirks thus adding dimension to this retro movie satire. Although, as I mentioned before, it is not the first film of this genre, but the script and acting make it completely unique. I recommend that you to grab some chicken and waffles, avoid the Anaconda Malt Liquor, and watch this movie. Never fear, it's alright, you won't be disappointed with 'Black Dynamite!'
zainsolinski It was really great to see a parody movie that didn't take itself or the humour its humour/inherently stupid plot too seriously like the Scary Movie series and other knockoffs. The filmmakers attention to the detail that defined blaxploitation pics of the 70s (soundtrack, costumes, 16mm camera) was spot on even though it didn't have to be, which really embellished the quality of the movie. The movie as a result can exist not solely as a parody but also as a tribute, which makes it stand out on its own as worthwhile. Watch this if you want to see something hilariously and intentionally stupid in terms of plot and structure, or just a funny homage to the early 70s. check it.
Sean Kaye Well, if you're like me and you watched this movie only because of the high 7.5 star reviews, then I'm here to hopefully save you 2 hours of your life. First off, if you like things like Key and Peele (formerly of MADtv), then you will almost certainly not like this. If you think seeing a black guy in a totally pimped out over-the-top car covered in flashing lights, looking like Snoopy's dog house in Charlie Brown's Christmas is funny, or seeing a white teenage boy in a rusty Dodge Neon with a big aluminum wing bolted to the trunk is funny, then you probably won't like this movie. I grew up in the 70's and saw all the movies this one was trying to 'spoof' and the originals were WAY funnier but for a completely different reason. The originals were outrageously stupid yet took themselves terribly seriously and THAT was the whole joke about them! I actually think after Sanders started making this, he perhaps even got caught up in it and started thinking "You know, I could make a movie just as 'cool' as an original 1970's films", like he started feeling like Tarantino, and that's just plain sad. To me, this movie would probably appeal to teenage stoners who like to get high and watch Robot Chicken -- people who need to have dumbed-down humour spoon-fed to them as apposed to having to think for themselves.
