To all those who have watched it: I hope you enjoyed it as much as I do.

It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

I'm not going to completely bash this movie, so I'll start with the good..The cinematography. I love the colors and the photography of this movie...it looked really clean and stylized. Now people are saying not to listen to the negative reviews, but for real, this movie was horrible, mostly with the pace of the film; it was rushed. But it was mostly the acting that was horrible, it didn't feel natural when some of the actors were delivering their line, if there were any. But honestly, the movie had no plot. Period.Yes there was a "message" at the end of the movie, but the movie really had no plot, there was no conflicts and whats worst the ending is incomplete, unless you go by Sin's narration. It wasn't powerful, it wasn't spectacular, it was a regular flick, nothing else.

I had no clue about the film before I watched it. My hiphop knowledge is pretty poor since snoop's doggy style so I had heard of DMX and Naz but wasn't familiar with their tunes. The opening scene is breath taking. The story line is simple but enthralling, DMX and Naz are comfortable in their roles, as their characters play out the parts. Their business expands, they start treading on toes and ultimately pressure and stress grows between the two protagonists as well as their subsequent relationships with wives and girlfriends. The sound track is wicked, the action is well paced, its violent but also intimidating, really quite raw in some parts which I like. Some of the smaller part characters are quality too, like a local dealer in a Omaha. Its a classic for me.

Belly was a pretty good low budget movie. I liked the overall plot, it was a "ghetto" Scarface as some would say. I enjoyed the movie and liked the soundtracks in particular. Does anyone know the song played when Keyshia (Tommy's girlfriend) was getting arrested? This is the scene after Tommy came back to NYC after his trip to Jamaica where he killed somebody for Lennox or Ox. This song is not listed in the soundtracks, so I am experiencing difficulties in finding this song and it kills me when this type of thing happens. All in all, I have no idea the artist name or the title of the song. Your help is greatly appreciated.

I loved this movie. I saw it years ago and I still think about it and am inspired. While many of the scenes were setup masterfully, some were needlessly graphic (otherwise I would have given it a 10). I look forward to the sequel: Beast. My mind is particularly drawn to the spiritual undertones in this film. They are refreshing when so much of Hollywood's take on this culture, looks more like minstrel shows and race propaganda. I want to see more films like Belly without having to sift through a lot of Black Exploitation Television. So I have turned to IMDb. Unfortunately, IMDb rates this movie low (~3.8) while rating crappier movies higher. This makes my task of finding a movie I like difficult, because many of the 3.5-4.0 IMDb rated movies really are crappy. I have no way of distinguishing between the good and the bad, so for some genres this scale is rendered useless. I understand not everyone shares the same tastes. But does anyone know of other movies that have similarly well-thought-out, intense, thought provoking plots and a low IMDb rating. With your help, I can enjoy those films without spending time looking at crap.
