youhanma What an amazing well made movie! The movie actually does have a very complex plot both Physiologically and sociologically but Homi's Direction make the movie simple to understand and a pleasure to watch!I say complex Physiologically because it is, It takes you just enough into the depths of the minds of these two characters, namely Cyrus and Tina to make you understand that something is not right and the thrilling end explains it all. Sociologically because we see and hear about such things that happen to old people like Fardoonji on a daily basis in all communities and races in India and abroad (namely Mistreatment of older folks and sometimes even murder.) The Movie spends just enough time on all the aspects and issues which make it so interesting to watch. It touches upon the Idiosyncrasies of the Parsi Community, (but this could relate too and be true for any community as such) the dysfunctional family of the Sethna's and then delves into the psychology of two young kids messed up by years of abuse, all while keeping within the boundaries of traditional "Bawa" Humour! Kudos to all of the stars as well, Saif Does an outstanding job with "Being Cyrus" and could very well be made an Honorary Bawa now. Dimple Kapadia and Nasrueidin Shah are absolutely brilliant and deserve to be nominated for some award, I don't care pick an award, ANY award! On the whole, a brilliant and well made movie, AWESOME JOB HOMI! You know industry insiders touted M.Night Shamalyan as the next Steven Spielberg in the US after the 6th sense! I think, if Homi Adjanina keeps up this trend he would definitely be the next Steven Spielberg of India!!! Bravo to this young Director!!!!!

subhanilchoudhury I think it is just exceptional movie. A great start by the debut-ant director. It has the touch of a master-- both Saif and Homi are "Kings" and they go well to the same golden box of our heart. The entire cast has given a great performance, Boman Irani simply scores A++. Hope it goes for Oscar.I think Dimple has given her best performance after Rudali. Naseer-sir was just excellent. It is good to see a house-full for this thought provoking, dark movie in INOX. I hope Saif gives us this kind of superb performance again and again.Watch it. You are going to have a great time..oops a dark time with loads of twist and turns. superb in every sphere, that is what Being Cyrus is. A great background score by Salim-Suliman.

kooleshwar I went into this movie expecting a movie that tries to to hard to be different and got just that.From the beginning of the movie you know that its going another one of those movies made by people who fail to realise the more they try to be different the more they become the same.The same old story of the complicated guy with a twisted past and maybe a twisted future hell how different is that. there must have been at least a million so called arty movies made on that theme.This movie tried just to hard to be different and suffered for it. the only likable part of the movie are the stereotypes the old bawa buildings the bawa insults and bawa quirkiness the hard d's, the old bawa charsis,etc each and every stereotype was lovable. it makes you wonder..... what obsession do filmmakers have with being different.The other thing going for this movie is the very short length at little less than 90 minutes you can even ignore the not so good acting. Saif ali khan should stick to his sweety roles he started of talking like a perfect bawa like very one else started but by the end of the movie the accent looked very very fake and tended to disappear completely.Also the end was quite predictable (warning here i get them almost fully right 9.5 times out of ten). The acting was strictly OK only Boman and naseeudin shone above the rest but thats not saying much considering the OK acting. The background music is non-existent and save for a few funny scenes this movie is quite boring.All in all an OK movie which could have been much better. Do go for it if you like these kind of art-house movies with no meaning then go watch this movie.

Tanmay Toraskar Being Cyrus, the movie which just released this weekend in India is already being hailed by critics and filmmakers everywhere. I viewed the movie just recently in the theaters and i should say that it is a simple sweet satisfying thriller that fills your appetite for the evening course.The Story is very simple, that Saif Ali Khan or Cyrus is a drifter who looks for work anywhere. He meets up Nasserudin Shah and comes in working for him. Shah lives with his old and seductive wife Dimple Kapadia. The plot goes on when Cyrus discovers that Shah's brother is a lazy worker who fiddles around with Nasseruddin's wife. Dimple then sets Cyrus to do some dirty work by killing her father-in-law. The Story takes time to build up and does go exploring more on the character's background. The Screenplay is superb with witty dialogs and a clear state narration from Saif Ali Khan. He does a terrific job on being the character of a Cyrus, a dark and mysterious man who lurks in the crowds of mumbai. But only Nasseruddin Shah was not given enough screen time, he was almost wasted through out the movie. The other actors like Boman Irani and Dimple Kappadia are full of grace and valour giving their acting best. The whole turn of events helps in making you feel for the characters.The other details are also well used especially the Photography, it gives the dark feeling environment around us. The Edit is very fast too, making the movie run for about 100 min and giving it the feel of a Hitchcock episode. The sounds and music are also well used and tune in well for the movie. All in all the movie is worth the visit and keeps on going well till the final twist, which is a must see for any type of movie.The Movie looks like it was made from inspirations such as Alfred Hitchcock and the Twilight Zone series. The Screenplay is very original and also well directed. Purely Good Performances and everything goes in a simple manner. 3 out of 5 for Cyrus
