I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.

Entertaining from beginning to end, it maintains the spirit of the franchise while establishing it's own seal with a fun cast

I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

This is a very clever short film (probably intended as a long commercial) but in hindsight, it may not have been especially effective. It's an anti-smoking film, though according to an article I just read, smoking rates in Canada (and the US for that matter) didn't appreciatively drop until the mid-1990s. Oh well, at least I had fun watching it.The film begins with a woman in her bedroom, dressed in a gown circa about 1820 (give or take). She then lights up a cigarette. Soon, a vampire comes to her and attacks her--only to succumb to the noxious effects of her smoke. It's very clever and hits home the ills of smoking but does it in a way that is funny, so it doesn't seem to heavy-handed or holier than thou.Because it's so short, it's well worth seeing. Thank you National Film Board of Canada.
