A different way of telling a story

Wow! What a bizarre film! Unfortunately the few funny moments there were were quite overshadowed by it's completely weird and random vibe throughout.

This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,

OK, let's just say for giggles that the script here isn't completely shaky and absurd (it is), the acting is borderline competent (it isn't), and you sort of kind of maybe care about these characters and their predicament (you don't) --- "Are You Scared?" has got to be one of the worst low low low budget productions I've ever seen.First of all, even when you discount that the whole enterprise is a blow by blow rip-off of the Saw films, how in the hell could there even BE a show like this with the kind of carnage depicted on display? How could anyone be stupid enough to send in audition tapes unless the show was completely mis-represented (we're not shown that it is mis-rep'ed --- we're given no information whatsoever).Secondly, this movie features what is hands down one of the worst, most feeble villains ever. "Hey, those meddling kids just ripped my cameras down!! I never thought they'd do THAT! BLAST THEM!!!" Besides a mutilated face (which is SO badly done, all the effects here are grade square-root-of-negative-one in merit) and a cheesy black suit, this guy doesn't look threatening enough to scare Bambi. And even discounting the ridiculous "twist" ending, what's the LEAST you'd expect from this movie? Some good death traps, right? Don't think so. The ones shown are either so brief and nondescript --- you never even see or barely understand most of the traps' basic premises much less feel any suspense watching them be played out.I think that must have cost money. Money they had already blown on the fake pyrotechnics that look like they were strung together with a MacroMedia Flash program and the mannequins that sloppily stand-in for people when a decapitation is needed. The makers of this trash deserve to be tied into chairs and forced to watch their regurgitated crap for a few weeks. And me? The only thing I'm scared of is the sequel, which has disturbingly already been released in 2009, judging by the IMDb entry.Unfreakingbelievable.

This is a little message to pretty much everyone mostly the people who have done this film a disservice by wasting its time insulting it and maybe, just maybe, people who don't have such ridiculous expectations for these types of films. Why is this film bad just because it is similar to another film that is good! Grow some balls and accept that not every film is Lord Of The Rings and appreciate entertaining straight to video productions. For what this film is, its good, end of subject. And just because everyone apparently has the same generic opinion on just about everything as everybody else means they are most probably wrong.thanks

This is THE worst movie I've seen in my entire life. Snakes on a Plane looked like 5 stars compared to this. You need to see this movie. I laughed my butt off the whole time. It is one of the most entertaining pieces of film I've ever seen. The fact that it's SO bad makes it good. I can laugh and watch stupid people die in a gory way at the same time. I don't know about you, but I get a kick out of horrible movies. I could tell it was going to be crap during the first scene because of the camera work. It looked so bad.Even The acting was bad. I haven't even heard of any of the actors in it. It'll make you appreciate crappy movies like Texas Chainsaw massacre, because it's at least got somewhat good acting, the camera work is normal, and the characters aren't stupid, well not as stupid as this movie's. I guess it could be compared to Saw, in the fact that you have to hurt yourself to live and a demented guy is watching people die but other than that, it's not alike. I can't even think of another movie that could compare to how bad this was. If you have time to waste, invest it in this movie. Are you scared is priceless.

Now being a film student I have seen many many many films and know that some movies need to be given a chance. This one though is the first movie I gave a chance to and still was not able to make it past the first 15 minutes. It was horrible. Saw is very hard to imitate so only the professionals should do so. This director is a hack. Never make a horror movie again, for the sake of us all. This is the WORST MOVIE EVER! I have some done some cheesy horror shorts myself and they were done on no budget, and only as a class exercise. That film is even better then Are you Scared? I am disappointed by this ...... well first off its not even a film. It is video, but that aside it is not worthy to be called a film. Burn it now before anymore have to suffer.
