There's so much wrong with this movie, I don't know where to start. I'll make a list:-Terrible cinematography. Has all the marks of a naive film student; every shot is over stylized with no style, and it's put through a blue filter to tell the audience that it's deep and sad. Just ugly
The dialogue is horrific and unrealistic. What's up with the weird cosmonaut monologue, out of nowhere?-This movie has two characters, and they're both so one dimensional. The woman is sad and she likes space. The man is sad. They have zero chemistry, and they "fall in love" over a series of scenes in which they frown and don't talk and just act like weirdos.
The story just drifts along with no direction or development. It seems like it wants to make some kind of profound statement or ask a deep question. Yet it doesn't. At all. "What if there was a copy of the earth?" Ok. That would be weird, huh? That's it, not explored further. The ending was meant to be open to interpretation or something. It's not. It sucks. It's so bad I barely noticed the acting, which was mostly horrific. One good thing? The Wii scene. This dude is brooding and depressed during the previous scene, and all the sudden we cut to a shot of him sitting down, frowning, playing Wii boxing in front of this girl he's spoken 3 words to. It's actually hilarious. It belongs in the Office it's so absurd.tl;dr - don't even try.

Overall, the movie is good although it doesn't address the philosophical questions it raises.
The mysterious Earth 2 and its effect is left untouched. It's merely a background distraction without it the movie may have been a better self-reconciliation / self-redemption drama... Maybe

This movie is an insult to common sense. It does not take into account that the viewers have at least some basic knowledge of elementary science - which is more than can be said for the director of the film. I will not dwell on the creepy parts where the old disgusting man is sticking it into the depressive girl. The "science fiction" part of the movie is the most ridiculous. The director didn't bother making it credible, not in the least. He wants us to believe that for tens of thousands of years a second earth was just lurking behind the sun and all of a sudden it's there in the sky bigger than the sun itself and seeming to get larger and closer with every passing minute, one would imagine the two planets will soon collide. What a shame. The rest is as bad, no need to go into the painful details, as it is I've wasted 90 min of my life and can't be bothered to waste more on this travesty.

Spoiler alert.Nothing happens. The new earth has no baring on the entirety of the movie. Any other hokey plot device could have been used instead of trumping up a grand sci-fi spinner. The movie is not a science-fiction, future earth, or any of the things that it pretends to be.
