Good story, Not enough for a whole film
Ariella Broughton
It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.

You have to give credit to the Germans for trying, it's not the worst animated film in the world but not the best ever. Some scenes were confusing, such as the hunter being knocked out and having his aircraft crashing in the valley, then moments later re-appears in his room to grab more guns. (spoilers, whoops)The animation was fantastic, but doesn't scream Pixar-fantastic. Lip sync could've been better, because some scenes lip syncs were in English, others in German with English dubs.Overall, this makes a decent youth animation for children. But if you're a film enthusiast, you probably shouldn't watch this if you don't want your perfection expectations to fall low. All I can say is, the Germans did a splendid job at the animation side, just not so well with the storyline (movie mistakes and whatnot) and voice dubs. Good job, lads.

Pros: The animation is pretty decent. Cons: German humor is lost in translation. This movie has a political agenda, like many movies today (Happy Feet, which I absolutely love, comes to mind), but the difference is that this movie is just one long commercial preaching about human influence on nature. There is no side story, character development or personal journey or growth being undertaken by any of the main characters. The "humans are destroying the planet" message is in-your-face and crammed down the viewers throat. Maybe that's how movies like this should be, but I did not find this entertaining.

Un-factual and full of ridiculous accusations. Essentially, Humans are evil and trying to takeover the world and destroy all animals... what a load of crap. The animals are looking for water because a dam has been built... Random animals from around the earth who are suffering because of the evil humans inadvertently happen to gather on the same continent. Add in the scenes of spewing exhaust and oil tanker spills - that supposedly have covered the earth... makes humans evil buffet eating mongrels. Oh but the kid in the movie is saving them all... then the animals show up in the cities to "make us accountable for our actions" ???? Oh but the Koala knockin one back in the pub is fine... even funny? We continued to watch it with our kids so we could have a discussion about propaganda films and rhetoric. Animals partying around the waterhole is no more factual than the propaganda infused in this film. This film is a detriment to true environmental responsibility. Crack pot environmentalism like this does nothing to support true environmental needs of our earth. Otherwise, a complete waste of animation time... Reinhard needs a new job...
