A Prince for Christmas Audience Reviews

Dynamixor The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
Matylda Swan It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties.
Rosie Searle It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
Ella-May O'Brien Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.
Jack Vasen This is a fairly predictable prince and commoner movie. The protagonists are a handsome couple that are basically developing quite a romance..The bad point is this. This movie comes very close to crossing a line and comes close enough to deserve being called on it. "Todd's not a bad guy, he's just hurt." Alice says this after Todd's overly aggressive behavior which results in a fight. Todd is guilty because he thinks he owns Alice. And he degrades her. He tells her she doesn't deserve anything better. I'm not sure that Todd would back off if made a firm statement of no. (Actually, he kind of doesn't.) She actually does say no several times, but then appears to waffle. Any man with any decency at all, any, would back off and stay away. But in addition to that Alice doesn't put her foot down. Every time Todd asks her to make a final choice, Alice doesn't. And Romance movies need to stop condoning this behavior. I've seen various degrees of this behavior in several romance TV movies. This movie is actually on the mild side. In some of them, the man is even more wrong, often grabbing the woman and kissing her without permission even as she struggles to break the kiss. This is unacceptable behavior and movies such as this need to make that clear. I have yet to see a romance movie that does.***SPOILERS*** I also didn't like the inevitable confrontation over the "lie". She says "what kind of fool do I look like", but the truth is that by jumping to conclusions and not trying to work it out, she is a fool and looks like a fool. Further, Duncan is just not that kind of person. Everything she accuses him of is just not true and he's not that stupid to think it is. But that's how these movies have to progress.I didn't rate this movie because I don't want my prejudice to affect the ratings.
mark-1589 It has one great line: "Two men in my life, and the honest one turns out to be the used car salesman."I spent the first half of the film trying to figure out why, if Duncan flew from Europe and was going to NYC, he happened to be driving through the middle of nowhere on the way to NYC. That was the big mystery in this otherwise it is a fairly predictable and pedestrian retelling of an oft-told tale.
Christmas-Reviewer BEWARE OF FALSE REVIEWS & REVIEWERS. SOME REVIEWERS HAVE ONLY ONE REVIEW TO THEIR NAME. NOW WHEN ITS A POSITIVE REVIEW THAT TELLS ME THEY WERE INVOLVED WITH THE FILM. IF ITS A NEGATIVE REVIEW THEN THEY MIGHT HAVE A GRUDGE AGAINST THE FILM . NOW I HAVE REVIEWED OVER 200 HOLIDAY FILMS. I HAVE NO AGENDA. I AM HONEST! Prince Duncan (Kirk Barker) from a small European country who comes to America to escape an arranged marriage to a woman he doesn't love. While there he meets and falls in love with a young waitress named Emma (Viva Bianca) struggling to keep her diner open and take care of her younger sister Alice (Brittany Beery). She also being pursued by her on again off again boyfriend who wants to get married to her. The film is not original 1 bet. You know what is going to happen. However the film makers made this movie that looks like a Norman Rockwell painting. The acting by the 2 leads is very good. I saw this on the Hallmark Channel. Check it out if you can.Suitable for everyone. Most men and children under 12 will be bored. I have seen over 150 Christmas movies and this is one of the better ones!
barbk-46000 This was one of the better movies of this type that I've seen..and not because it was filmed in my hometown. The local scenery was, of course, much appreciated. But the acting and storyline were simply very good. The relationships were very believable, from the King and Queen to the sisters. (Altho Kelly Lebroc was stiff...). I suppose it's foolish to believe that 2 people from very different backgrounds could fall in love in a matter of days, but the actors playing Emma and Duncan did a wonderful job , and made me want to cheer at the end when they finally kissed! It's refreshing to watch a movie about a young couple falling in love who don't fall into bed at their earliest opportunity. It makes the audience believe that these two actually LIKE each other, respect each other, and by movie's end, truly love one another. As for the complaint in a prior review that the movie was basically too white...well, I can report that, based on the number of cast members, one African- American was about right if you know the racial makeup of this small rural town. ( I recently watched The Wiz Live, and...it was awfully dark. ) Come on..we need to get past that kind of criticism. I'd certainly enjoy seeing Viva and Kirk in future films. They made an adorable couple.
