On the banks of São Paulo's Rio Tietê, a poignant tale unfolds, featuring a tapestry of characters existing on the fringes of society. Prostitutes, a pimp, a mentally disabled man, and others marginalized by fate lead lives mired in hopelessness, devoid of any prospect. Trapped in the relentless cycle of their ordinary yet despairing existence, they yearn for release, anticipating the embrace of death as their only salvation—a collective passage onto the harrowing vessel of damnation.

A Margem Audience Reviews

Contentar Best movie of this year hands down!
Taha Avalos The best films of this genre always show a path and provide a takeaway for being a better person.
Jakoba True to its essence, the characters remain on the same line and manage to entertain the viewer, each highlighting their own distinctive qualities or touches.
Claudio Carvalho At the riverside of Rio Tiete, in São Paulo, prostitutes, a pimp, a retarded man, a handicap, people in the margin of the society live their hopeless lives waiting for the boat of hell.Ozualdo Ribeiro Candeias was a Brazilian director with a humble origin and great identification with the excluded of the society. His debut behind the camera was with this movie, worshiped by students and professionals of cinema due to the unique cinematographic aesthetic. This film was produced in a period of the wave of the Brazilian "Cinema Novo", and Candeias made a revolutionary timeless story without chronology, full of ellipsis, very few dialogs and bizarre characters and situations, as a form of art and not political instrument. Although being original, I personally found "A Margem" pointless, weird and boring. My vote is three.Title (Brazil): "A Margem" ("The Margin")
