As Good As It Gets
Kamila Bell
This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

I Know It's 12 Years old i did a Vin Diesel Marathon i have watched this movie back in 2009 when i Rented this movie i loved it's so good more then good it's GREAT don't listen to Naysayers who says crap about this movie. this is a series performance Vin Diesel Ever Made I Mean Come On It was very good story it was simple, there's noting wrong with movie i don't understand why why everyone hated this so bad got 11 % Rotten Tomatoes Screw them this movie give it a big look believe it's so good not just because Vin Diesel Is in Movie it's not bad what you think it is from reviews. Sean Vetter (Vin Diesel) Is a is a DEA operative fighting the drug wars along the US/Mexican border. you have another characters in movie like Demetrius Hicks (Larenz Tate) good chemistry together they have good chemistry in movie they went to stop and take down major player from the Baja Cartel that they wanted to take down for many years Memo Lucero (Geno Silva) is arrested. Stacy Vetter (Jacqueline Obradors) is wife of Sean she is not annoying or anything that she is likable.later that night one of guys broke into Sean House Killed Stacy he got shot but later he was OK in Hospital. he was trying to figure out what's a new mysterious figure known as Diablo Not known for Suicide Squad Diablo remember this movie is made before that many years later. i think it means figure known as Diablo wrests control over the entire operation. so later on Sean ended up in hospital he got out he's out for revenge it's soon later the film gets so good believe me it's great movie ! Vin Diesel character gets series like you don't want to mess with him at all never try to mess with him. later that he goes out their to found out who killed his wife he and his partner Demetrius Hicks must join forces with the jailed Cartel boss to hunt down the dangerous and elusive new player.you have another good character Big Sexy (George Sharperson) is helping out as well. you have scene with Hollywood Jack (Timothy Olyphant) Hit-man (2007), Justified TV Series. you have scene together Vin diesel made me laugh Hollywood Jack is like Cocky guy drug dealer he does OK in movie he wasn't bad. you have many good action scenes in movie that are so good like Car Park area was so good very well done action scenes specially with Minigun scene At Bar Destroying it. and movie is well made i mean it's revenge film and Vin Diesel Character is a series character like you don't want to mess with Character he is series guy who wants found out who killed his wife it was very thrilling i don't get it why it flopped. the film is not full on action but it was Action Mixed Thriller to it noting slow or anything like that it shows Vin Diesel Vin really showed the he is a true actor in this, And i would say it's his best performance in movie it's very well done and it's very underrated there's noting to hate about this movie it's well story, great performance character from Vin Diesel he nailed it his role in movie great 10.10 outstanding hands down give it a look. this movie is as predictable as it gets. Sure you get good action and shootings there, but both the story and the characters couldn't be more transparent. I was expecting at least quite decent action movie since Vin Diesel is in it but his character is kinda flat, and to be honest I don't blame him, he hasn't been given much to work on. I suppose the only thing he could have done differently was not accepting that role... The only role that raises above average is Larenz Tate's, he really should get a credit for that. Sadly there is no "good" villain in that movie. Timothy Olyphant's role was promising but failed to keep that promise. all in all, if you have nothing else to do, you can watch that movie. But if you have a choice, choose something else.

Vin Diesel tries his best to emote in this ultimately routine crime / revenge saga. He plays Sean Vetter, a former gangbanger turned DEA agent. The persistence of Sean and his colleagues over the course of seven years finally pays off, as they successfully apprehend a drug kingpin, Memo Lucero (Geno Silva). The consequence of this episode is that soon Seans' beloved wife Stacy (Jacqueline Obradors) is killed in an assault on Seans' house. Once he's recuperated, Sean is hellbent on finding out just who gave the order to attempt murder, if it wasn't Lucero. All he knows is that a mysterious figure named El Diablo has taken Memos' place and is even more evil and ruthless than Memo.Larenz Tate plays Seans' friend Demetrius Hicks, who must make a decision between being loyal to Sean and letting the law handle things. Ms. Obradors is an absolutely gorgeous and appealing presence here, and she and Diesel do make a believable couple. Silva delivers a creditable performance as the low key crime boss, with whom Sean actually makes a connection when Luceros' wife falls victim to El Diablo. There's other notable talent in the cast: Timothy Olyphant, Steve Eastin, Juan Fernandez, Jeff Kober, Marco Rodriguez, Mike Moroff, Ken Davitian. The filmmaking is reasonably slick, with the soundtrack full of hip hop and rock, and the action scenes are high energy stuff. But it's hard to get all that interested in this tale when everything just feels so familiar and predictable, not to mention senseless. As this viewer already said, Diesel gives a reasonable effort as the tormented and enraged lead character, but he's simply outshone by his supporting cast.Watchable enough for 110 minutes but pretty forgettable.Six out of 10.

Sean Vetter (Vin Diesel) and Demetrius Hicks (Larenz Tate) are part of a DEA team sent to join Mexican police to take down drug lord Memo Lucero. Memo is captured and brought back to the US. A mysterious new player Diablo is taking over Memo's territory and killing his men. Diablo's men kill Sean's wife (Jacqueline Obradors) in a failed assassination attempt. He goes to seek revenge for his dead wife. They start investigating Hollywood Jack (Timothy Olyphant). It's a crime melodrama. There is a good deal of overacting. The story has several cliché plots jam together. Vin Diesel tries to do a lot. I don't blame him because that's the way it's written. He's a super cop. He's a happy street-wise family man. He's a grieving widow. He's a gangster thug avenging cop. He's too much and the movie suffers. It feels like a lot of poser acting. It doesn't get the benefit of gritty realism. There are quite a bit of gun action but it's not fun or exciting. This movie is going for a lot and probably too much. Around the halfway point, I stop caring about this movie.
