A Charlie Brown Christmas Audience Reviews

Micransix Crappy film
Voxitype Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
BelSports This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Hayden Kane There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes
Zbigniew_Krycsiwiki I find this to be very calming, relaxing, almost meditative. It is a pure, uncluttered plot, subtle, almost muted, and most importantly, it makes its points without getting preachy. The animation is perfect, it has a child-like innocence about it, not perfect or polished, but only slightly unrefined and rough around the edges. The same can be said about the child actors supplying the voices, the all have a sincerity to them. The lisps, stutters, difficulty in getting some of the words out, all seem genuine, and that probably would not have been, if adult actors had done the voices. Vince Guaraldi's jazzy score is one of the best scores I can think of. I can listen to the score by itself anytime.
ofpsmith This is my favorite Christmas special. Hands down, no comparison, this is the best. Charlie Brown (Peter Robbins) is depressed by the commercialism and corporate nature of modern Christmas as well feeling even more isolated from the group because of it. Lucy Van Pelt (Tracy Stratford) assigns Charlie to direct the Christmas play. Although everyone else is content, Charlie still isn't satisfied with the way the play is going. When he decides that the play is missing a tree, he and Linus Van Pelt (Christopher Shea) go to a shop to find one. Among all the fake trees of metal and colors, Charlie finds a real tree. He brings it back everyone mocks him. When Charlie gives up on Christmas, Linus recites the bible to remind him of what Christmas's true nature is. It's a wonderful special. I know I'm not saying anything that someone hasn't said before but it's the truth. It's just great. I watch it every Christmas and there's a very good chance that you do too.
ToiletHumorist This has been part of my annual Christmas viewings since I was eight! And year after year it never stops being touching, funny, off-beat, and wholesome. Also, who among us can't relate to the frustrations of one Mr Charlie Brown? His disillusionment with the Christmas Holiday, was a theme rarely seen in a show in the 1960's, let alone in a kids show. The supporting characters are all so vibrantly different. From the self absorbed Lucy, to the quiet and introspective Linus, to the imaginative and irreverent Snoopy. The voice actors are so young and innocent sounding that it gives the show an innocence that matches up well with the offbeat humor that comes from Charles Schultz. The animation is a bit crude, but the magic of the writing and voice acting somehow makes the crude animation seem charming. And who can forget the amazing musical score by Vince Guaraldi? The songs from this show "Linus and Lucy", and "Christmas Time Is Here" have gone on to be Christmas standards. The Jazz music score gives the show a hip feel that contrasts well with the childish feel of the voice acting and the animation. Also, if you are of a religious nature, you will find that particular spiritual aspect of the show to be moving. But even if you aren't, and just enjoy the Holiday season for it's traditions rather than it's Religious nature, you will still find lots of things about this show that you will like.So keep up the tradition of families watching this show every Christmas by showing it to the young ones in your life, they won't be disappointed.
AaronCapenBanner First animated special adapted from the popular Charles M. Schulz carton strips is one of the best, a thoughtful tale about how unpopular Charlie Brown is appalled by the increasing commercialism he sees in the holiday, and how even his own dog Snoopy is getting in on the act with his doghouse Christmas lights! Lucy then picks Charlie to direct the school play, but the other kids refuse to listen, though after Charlie's choice of Christmas tree is ridiculed, Linus reminds everyone about the true meaning of the holiday. Prescient(and now innocent) look at the exploitation and ignorance of the holiday may be a bit rambling, but touching final few minutes make up for it, with a worthy message.
