5 Flights Up Audience Reviews

Glucedee It's hard to see any effort in the film. There's no comedy to speak of, no real drama and, worst of all.
Motompa Go in cold, and you're likely to emerge with your blood boiling. This has to be seen to be believed.
Roman Sampson One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
Philippa All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
ckdos2 This film is about two old fuddy-duddies driving each other marriage crazy after all these years. No bombs, no murders, no guts, no hot disgusting senior sex or fumbling trysts, just good ol' times at the end of their lives while still hitting on contemporary racial, social and political issues. To all you youngsters or wannabes who hated this movie because of no porno, no graphic violence or sensational blood lusting, then just go enlist in the army and get what you rally want first hand. Good luck. Also a great subplot with their only child, Dorothy, their dog. These two oldsters still got what it takes after all these years. Congrats to you both.
kosmasp Or still here. If you have two great actors like that in a movie, you can not go wrong. Watching them play off each other is a blast. Morgan Freeman might have aged (like we all do), but he's has a presence that can be felt. Drama might not be everyones cup of tea, but if it is, you should watch a couple trying to cope with the fact they are getting older and how to spend their time. Also where to spend their time and if the lifestyle they are used to is still something they should be going after. It's easier to move into something smaller, although on the other hand it's always tough to leave something familiar behind. So while the stakes seem not really high (and they aren't, this is a light affair), the movie can be convincing, if only for the acting talent at hand
Roland E. Zwick Written and directed by Charlie Peters and Richard Loncraine, respectively, "Five Flights Up" is an amiable and low-keyed urban comedy about an aging couple reluctantly selling the New York apartment they've lived in for forty years. Though Ruth sees this as an opportunity to start a new chapter in their lives, Alex, a seemingly only moderately successful painter, fights to hold onto the place, making subtle little efforts to sabotage the sale.Diane Keaton and Morgan Freeman make for very pleasant company indeed, and, while the movie's insights into aging, relationships and end-of-life downsizing aren't exactly earth-shattering, they are certainly more than we customarily get from romantic comedies set at the opposite end of the age spectrum. Yet, while it acknowledges the troubles that come with aging, the film happily doesn't fixate on them to the exclusion of all else.Above all, the movie shows how hard it can be to leave a home and a neighborhood after a lifetime spent setting down roots there. And anyone who's ever endured the bureaucratic nightmare involved in buying and selling a home will find much to relate to in the movie.
Katerina Robertovla Can anyone spell A.F.T.E.R. S.C.H.O.O.L. S.P.E.C.I.A.L.? What is going on today in filmmaking? What are excellent actors like Morgan Freeman, Diane Keaton, Cynthia Nixon and Carrie Preston doing making dreck films like this? What a terrible script this film had. This movie premise was dumbed down and so lack luster I kept falling asleep. What a waste of great actors.I guess everyone connected with this film needed $$$ to make those mortgage and kids' college tuition payments. Whatever happened to films like "Tender Mercies?" Now that was a love story.I found this movie tonight on Google Play. I'm thankful it only cost me $5.13 to rent. If I'd have schlepped to the movie theater and paid $10.50 I would have been pretty irritated. Sorry, but I am just fulfilling my 10 lines to satisfy IMDb. That's all folks!
