Bad Acting and worse Bad Screenplay

I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.

It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,

An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.

Directors have to start off somewhere. Scorsese, Coppola, Howard got a start under Roger Corman. So let's cut Asylum films some slack who make low budget rip off films for recent cinema releases which go straight to DVD and then the SciFy channel. However this riff of 2012 and The day after tomorrow is plain bad. Bad acting, bad effects, bad script, its straight from the Ed Wood school of filmmaking.A glacier is on its way to the USA and causing havoc from snow storms to people freezing instantly. The special effects must have been produced on a PS2 as our heroes travel to New York to rescue their daughter as others head west. So they somehow drive on cleared roads while there is a snowstorm and stupid things happen or are said because the script demands it.The film is not a total fail as you make allowances for its micro budget and its speedily made but its a mess and barely watchable. I just hope Asylum manage to produce a fraction of the directing talent of Corman.

C'mon, Mr Travis Fort (if that's your real name)... you can do better. You have a volcano in Iceland blowing up (OK, well set), that somehow (?) pushes a giant lacier towards the Eastern coast (you even checked a map to see that Newfoundland would be hit first... great research!). When it gets there, huge ice chunks fall from the sky, crushing buildings, cars and people (nice). And... where are the sharks?? You know, hungry, super-intelligent sharks frozen for a gazillion years and now coming down hard on unsuspecting people? This movie is beyond atrocious. It's worse in script, acting, editing and cgi than the most basic YouTube videos you can find out there. My 8 year old likes to make stop motion videos with his teddy bear, and this movie makes him look like a second Hitchcock or Kubrick. The plot is confusing to the extreme, the editing should be considered a crime up there with child molestation, and the acting... well, Patrick Labyorteaux got a job a few years back in JAG, and has been doing this since he was a kid. You would expect at least he learned something just by being there. Regarding the lady that performs as his wife, she looks and acts as if she just came out of rehab (or needs to go there); wish her the best, don't take any more crack. The girl (her daughter in the movie) was passably hot, they got at least that right. I didn't care about the kid; he will follow his "mom" into rehab in a couple of years. How did I end up watching this aberration? Looking for a simply bad movie (2012) on Netflix. I said "what the heck?" and ended up streaming it. It only cost me half an hour of my life (I had to fast forward it, it's impossible to sit through it all). So Mr. Travis Fort owes me half an hour of my life and some bandwidth. Just quit directing (under any name... no tricks) and we will call it even.

Any 2012 apocalyptic story line has already established itself as completely unrealistic and foolish. A good part of the claims by the Doom Sayers belief the world was going to end, or that there was going to be a global disaster is based off of 1 of many Mayan calendars. The descendants of the Mayan civilization themselves will tell you the calendar never said the world was going to come to an end, or our climate was going to go through some major change, it merely indicated that life as a whole would change, yes I refer to life for mankind. As for those who gave this move between a 2 and a 3 rating they pay way too much homage to the screen writers. Do not need to ask if this is a typical cruddy SyFy original, because I remember when it first aired, well not the exact date, but the approximate time, I believe within 6 mos. it was already available to rent, personally I believe many of these movies produced by NBC/Universal's SyFy division start producing the DVDs for rent prior to airing on TV, that way if people with no taste in regards to the SyFy genre miss it on TV they can immediately rent it on DVD. My conclusion that unlike syndicated television series whose ratings are determined by first run, made for TV movies are not rated until the DVD is no longer categorized as a New Release, which may take as long as a year. Unbelievable the amount of time I have spent ranting about how low quality of a movie this is. In all sincerity I never even watched it, it was a given the move was irrational, illogical, based on no sound scientific facts, it would take an eruption from a super volcano to sheer off a chunk of ice that large to drop ocean temperatures that much, and as everyone knows the amount of dust those things would eject into the atmosphere would cause a Nuclear Winter. There are no Super Volcanos in the vicinity of Iceland.

I like natural disaster movies, it's the only reason i wanted to see this one. I have a big tolerance when it comes to this kind of movies but this is too much. i've seen other natural disaster movies more than 2-3 times each so i thought i'd give this one a chance.stopped it after 10 minutes (couldn't take it no more).this movie is joke, an offense to the movie industry and i could go on. the effects were terrible, the actors played their parts like this was a cheap comedy,no reaction when learning such an unimaginable disaster is coming to hit them. this is without a doubt the worse movie i've ever seen, and i've seen a lot. PLEASE Don't WATCH THIS!!
