I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

The representation lacks the attraction but based on truth. Every where I got missed thing that is no attraction due less attractive drama. Romance lacks truth of romance. Indian culture representation is truth. I didn't liked their Chemistry. The one thing I loved is Truth Representation of Indian Culture. Greatly represents Boyish thinking in Indian blood. On the whole they have everything in movie. But lacks way that could attractive.

What I mean when I say the above is that Arjun's extent of acting involves curling the ends of his mouth up when he is supposed to look happy, and keeping them in place otherwise. I seriously would have liked to punch him to get some other emotion out of him. Oh well, I guess family connections are all you need to get cast in a movie.Alright, that's just about one actor's performance. The reason I gave a 4 rating is because Amrita Singh and Revathy have turned in decent performances. They both bring out the reservations that mothers have when their child is in a relationship with someone else. Of course, both sides are seen to hold some prejudices about the other, which is not completely fictional either. These prejudices were discussed in the book as well, but the movie brings these to a wider audience. We definitely need to discuss and get over this unfounded sense of superiority over someone from another state (both sets of parents are guilty of this).Another thing I would like to say is that although Alia Bhatt shines in her role due to acting beside Arjun Kapoor, the role could have been given to someone who was actually from south India.Overall, the book was decent, but the movie was mostly ruined by the poor casting choices for the lead roles. The cyborg-like performance of Arjun Kapoor was especially intolerable. I guess family connections really do help to inflict suffering on a huge audience.

Here come the movie with one from Chetan Bhgat's ink. I am bit confused whether to write the review of "2 states" the book or the movie. Both are look like identical twins to father Chetan Bhagat. Simplicity of Chetan's writing is shown in this movie. I consider it is a real story and very close to perfection. Arjun kapoor played Chetan is doing partial justice to the role, not complete because his copper hard hair not look like chetan's. Also Alia look as she was confident, smart but in some scenes she looks over confident. Watch her dialogs during canteen mess. There is also some flaws in story like AK is not able to buy car it shows how badly his employer Yes Bank pays, also size of cubicles of Yes bank is look like lower grade company. And count more a Economcs university toper needs tuition from an IIT chap. But chennai displayed in movie is good.Useless dialog of movie is Beer is banned in Gujarat because Gandhiji born in Gujarat and he is against alcohol.I mean come on writers plz do not treat us dumb. Even nursery class student will not excited on this dialog. In total one time watch movie either on big screen or Ur home screen. Watch if you like Chetan Bhagat and his writing. Thanks

I haven't read the book by Chetan Bhagat so I had no idea how good or bad the film would be, but I was pleasantly surprised. 2 States portrays the every day troubles of different backgrounds of the Hindu culture coming together for marriage. A hardcore punjabi family vs the soft and calm tamil family, is a representation of all mixed Hindu marriages and Abhishek Varman showns this very naturally. Arjun and Alia's romance, especially in the university days is very cute and When the two families get together later on in the film, there is some brilliantly funny scenes! Both Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt did justice to their respective lead roles and have a fantastic on screen chemistry. Alia comes off perfectly natural on screen (she has overacted in some films), I think a lot of people will stand up and notice her after this performance. This is a standout performance for Arjun, away from the action packed films like Ishaqzaade, Aurangzeb and Gunday. He plays the confused Punjabi boy perfectly. The scene stealer on many occasions however was Amrita Singh! She is a fantastic talent - why she doesn't do more films is beyond me, but hopefully after such a lovely performance she will catch more attention. Ronit Roy plays his role excellently. Revathi is also very sweet in her role. The music of the film is another plus, and certainly adds a lot to the film. My picks are certainly Mast Magan and Locha-E-Ulfat. 2 States is a must watch, firstly to watch a simple but beautifully put love story, but also for some excellent performances!
