1492: Conquest of Paradise Audience Reviews

GrimPrecise I'll tell you why so serious
Forumrxes Yo, there's no way for me to review this film without saying, take your *insert ethnicity + "ass" here* to see this film, like now. You have to see it in order to know what you're really messing with.
Fairaher The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
Janis One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
Kirpianuscus Gerarad Depardieu. and the music of Vangelis. a hero as result of good intentions. and hostile savages. this film is more a seductive fairy tale than a historical film. and this is the motif for see it as a show, ignoring the inaccuracy, the fake events and the clear errors. the poetry of image. nothing else is the virtue of this full of noble intentions film. Christopher Columbus is only a character and cold be strange to compare him with the portrait, known from school years or result of lectures. because, obvious, the purpose is not exactly to recreate a life but to give an impressive hero. and the good thing - it is a beautiful film. detail who could be enough.
lifeisashoe This movie is filled with so many historical inaccuracies, its getting ridiculous already after 20 minutes of the movie. Everything from the "flat earth"-plot to turkeys in Europe. Its a disgrace. It portraits Colombus as some sort of hero who was nice to the natives. It was the other way around. This movie is beyond terrible.
maxvandevorle This 'biography' is a horrible portrayal of Columbus' REdiscovery of the Americas. This film knowingly takes misconceptions of what happened and tells the audience it is the truth. The film portrays Columbus as a lovable man while in his diaries he even wrote that it would be easy to enslave the indigenous population. Columbus was the Stalin of that time, he would enslave the native population and either put them to work or kill them. Moxica would even be a more accurate portrayal of Columbus. If the dear reader would want to know more about what i'm talking about he/she should look up what the people at History Buffs(Youtube channel) have to say about this disgrace of a film. I rate it a 4 because of all the mistakes but if you're bored and want something to maybe laugh about(like the scene with the orange) this would be a GREAT film.
jknow2012 In 1492, we witness an epic(in the original sense of the word) depiction of how things were around the period of the time when Christopher Columbus arrived at the "New World" in the fifteenth century. Based on historical events which occurred during Columbus' expeditions, this film shows how things were before, during, and slightly after Columbus arrived in the islands of the Caribbean. What was particularly interesting was when Columbus arrived in the "New World" which was already inhabited by Indians. Subsequently, we get to see how these natives were conquered & eventually turned into slaves. The same spirit which was responsible for the Inquisition in Spain eventually came into contact with the original natives of this "New World". Historically, this would be a good movie for Americans to observe and analyze on an educational level. For those who may not know, this movie shows that Christopher Columbus and his minions DID NOT discover this "New World", however they DID conquer it, hence the title of the move "1492: Conquest of Paradise".
